Researchers from Oxford, Harvard and MIT found new DNK pieces linked to diabities. The study sheds a new light on the genetic and biological processes that lead to the development of the illness.
The team of researchers use a new chip to study the DNA of more than 35 000 sick and nearly 115 000 healthy individuals.
‘The ten gene regions we have shown to be associated with type 2 diabetes are taking us nearer a biological understanding of the disease,’ says Oxford University prof. Mark McCarthy. The results will help the creation of more effective drugs against diabities.
